Hi! My name is Mitzi, or Mijji (my Korean name). You can call me by either name!
I've always been passionate about baking and art, which eventually led me to 5 years of working as a decorator and a Wedding & Events coordinator at a bakery.
I never thought it could be my long-term career though (even though I had already been there 5 years) so I switched paths into the tech world. While working in tech, I yearned for creativity and cakes eventually became an obsession for me. It consumed my nights and weekends, and I experimented daily with recipes and designs while also juggling my full-time job. My co-workers became my guinea pigs, and it became normal for me to bring a cake to work almost every day. Within a few months, I started getting regular requests for cakes from friends and family, which then became friends of friends and family, and then eventually completely new people.
In 2019, I eventually took the leap and quit my job to start From Flour (previously mijjiCakes), and have been making cakes for the SF Bay Area ever since.
